Sell Them or Give Them Away Online
A great place to get rid of boxes is either on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. If you have some big boxes, consider selling them, but you can also give them away for free. If you think someone would pay money for your boxes, go ahead. If you are just willing to get rid of them, advertise them as free. Bigger boxes are sometimes hard to find, so you may get a decent amount of money for selling one.
Reuse The Boxes
Cardboard boxes are great for a lot of things besides moving. You can use them to store holiday decorations, out-of-season clothing, or items you need to donate. If you are renting an apartment or home and plan on moving when the lease is up, consider saving the boxes if you have the space to do so. That way, you won’t have to go searching for boxes again. If you do keep them, break them down and store them somewhere dry with good air circulation.
Repurpose Your Boxes
Kids love boxes, and so do pets. If you are someone who likes to repurpose inside your own home, consider making a cardboard fort with your kids or use a side of a box as a puzzle mat. There are a handful of YouTube videos that can show you ways to turn your boxes into something handy. The opportunities are endless! You can turn anything into something if you try.
Recycle Your Boxes
Cardboard can be recycled. If you are curious, contact recycling centers around you for requirements and more information. Some recyclers require that all the boxes be flattened, stacked, and shaped into a specific size while others will refuse cardboard boxes with staples in them or tape. Some recycling stations may need you to have a minimum amount of boxes to qualify for a pick-up service. Some moving companies will even take these off your hands to use for future moves. Ask around!
